Nancy Abbott

Executive Coach

Nancy spent much of her career at General Electric and GE Capital in Information Technology and Human Resources roles in several international business units. In all her roles, Nancy was most energized by addressing the challenges brought by change. She has led acquisition, reorganization, and divestiture teams and specialized in organization design and executive development. Nancy has always focused on developing others and found her tenure as an adjunct professor most rewarding when she saw students grasp new learnings and possibilities.

Coaching Philosophy

Nancy focuses her coaching practice on helping clients find success and satisfaction in the workplace and in life. She partners with clients to consider unexplored options, develop meaningful priorities, and build their sense of confidence and agency. Nancy is known for her pragmatic approach, her insightful questions and her ability to help clients bring focus and clarity to their thinking in an otherwise frenetic world.

Nancy tailors her approach to her clients’ needs but is ever mindful of “clear goals…conscious choices.” She helps clients create concrete steps for action and delights in their successes as they explore new ground.

Results Achieved

The senior leader of a hospital found themselves faced with an acquisition by a larger hospital organization. Though billed as a merger, it became evident that the client’s hospital would have less influence and autonomy in the integration process than expected. The client and their team were experiencing uncertainty and stress as a result. Partnering with the leader, we explored the emotions, communication gaps, and unmet expectations present in their team. The client also became aware of their own needs as a leader. They were able to develop strategies for working with the new company, gaining influence, and becoming a conduit for information flow. As the leader built their own model for success, they were able to meet the needs of their team and rebuild trust and communication.
