Coaching Philosophy

Jerry believes clients are creative, resourceful, and whole. Seeing himself as a catalyst instead of the hero, Jerry enjoys asking questions to help his clients generate awareness, discover insights, and take specific actions.

Jerry understands the balance between challenging and supporting his clients during their sessions together, providing a safe psychological space where discomfort is okay. His sessions can involve a lot of improvisation, dancing in the moment as he helps clients forward the action.

Results Achieved

A newly hired software engineer struggled with establishing credibility among his team, wondering what it would take for them to take him and his thoughts more seriously. Over the next three to four months, he realized that any technical competence he demonstrated didn’t matter until he developed a genuine interest in getting to know his teammates and setting them up for success through serving them. He realized he needed more empathy and curiosity, and that influential leadership wasn’t about what he wanted them to do. Rather, it was about motivating his team well so they could celebrate results together.
