“Dan,” an EVP in a professional services firm, had been highly successful in increasing revenues, sometimes at the expense of other regions. To step up to an enterprise-wide leadership role, Dan needed to build strong strategic relationships with peers across the company and soften his competitive style inside the firm while keeping his aggressive edge in the marketplace.
